Front National South Africa on Thursday urged business owners, individuals, Transnet and the Tshwane Metro Council to immediately proceed with legal action against the Economic Freedom Fighters to claim compensation for damages after Wednesday’s Day of Action in Pretoria.
Amongst others, various shops were looted, trains set on fire, the fence surrounding the Kruger Statue on Church Square was trampled and vehicles stoned. “It has become a habit in South Africa to damage private and public property whenever you are not satisfied with something, and then getting away with it under the disguise of ‘private individuals perpetrating random acts of vandalism’. This action was a pre-arranged and well promoted gathering of EFF members, which left more than sufficient evidence as to who the perpetrators are,” FN Spokesperson, Daniël Lötter, said. “It can not be expected by the consumer or the Pretoria Tax Payer to foot the bill for barbaric behaviour.”
Front National also called upon the DA Metro Council to take a firm stand in this matter. The co-operation between the DA and the EFF in the local government elections earlier this year should not cloud the DA’s judgement in their opinion about the behaviour of the EFF leadership and members in the action on Wednesday, which is to be condemned in the strongest terms. “We are waiting in suspense to see whether the DA is going to call the EFF to accountability for the damage to a heritage site and public transport.”
