Education, ANC has left the country’s children in the lurch

The national department of primary education and its provincial subsidiaries is failing the country as a whole, but especially the children of the country. Says FF Plus’s chairman, Adv. Anton Alberts in a statement.

He said that since 1994 the ANC has experimented with learners with different training philosophies, such as outcomes-based education, which caused major damage. The result is a generation that leaves school without properly being able to count, write or read. This makes the higher pass rates a national joke.

“The illiterate children who leave school without hope are a national tragedy. The ANC government treated the children of the country with contempt and the FF Plus hopes young people remember it the day they vote.

“A further tragedy is terrifying poor performance, despite the huge budget that the national and provincial departments receive annually. The country’s level of math and science literacy lies on the lowest ranking in the world every year. It is a national shame.

“What makes the shame bigger is the ANC’s ongoing attacks on Afrikaans schools and mother tongue based education in the name of ‘access’ while new schools are not being built, despite the existence of a huge budget for it,” adv said. Alberts.
