On 24 March 2021, at about 16:45, the 38-year-old Bulelwa Mene was shot and killed inside her yard in Phalo Street, NU2, Ikamvelihle, by two unknown suspects.

This followed after Bulelwa and her 15-year-old daughter were about to go into the house after Bulelwa returned from her workplace. Her daughter greeted her at her vehicle, a grey VW Jetta, when the suspects approached them and ordered that the daughter get into the vehicle.

Bulelwa was then shot in the head by one of the suspects, after which they fled the scene in a silver Toyota Tazz. The daughter was unharmed in the incident.

Nothing was robbed from the victims and police suspect that this could be a targeted murder.
