A 68 year woman is left recovering from a traumatic attack, when 3 armed men wearing balaclavas entered the property by kicking in the door, held her up by her neck and tried to cut her wedding ring off her finger.

Atlas Security responded to a call at the early hours of Thursday morning 14 August 2019, to a property in Sunridge Park. Atlas Security Operations Manager, Monty Montgomery said upon arrival the victim had described the horrific incident. She heard a noise and looked out her window only to see an intruder, minutes later 3 armed suspects kicked in the door and held her up. The suspects then forced her to lie on the floor and attempted to cut her wedding ring off her finger.

The armed robbers fled with jewellery. The victim is recovering from a bad cut to her finger and bruises on her neck. The SAPS attended to the scene and took over. This is the 5th house robbery that Atlas Security has responded to in August.

Monty Montgomery advises residents in a home invasion situation to avoid eye contact, and to not resist their demands to hand over valuables. Fighting back raises the risk of injury or tragedy, but if you cooperate with their requests it’s far less likely that you or your family will be harmed.

Further secure your perimeter with essential early warning devices such as outdoor beams, as they act as the first line of defence for your home security. Beams can be linked to your alarm system to alert you of an intruder on your property before they reach your front door.
