A 24-year-old wanted murder suspect was arrested on the morning of 5 December 2020, by members performing special festive season duties and the Gelvandale Tracing Team.

It is alleged that on 14 November 2020, at about 10:30, Teswill Turner (19) was walking in Zimdahl Street when the suspect approached and started shooting at him. Turner ran into his yard in the same street with the suspect in pursuit. The suspect shot him in his yard. He died of multiple gunshot wounds later in hospital.

The suspect was known and a warrant for his arrest was issued. At about 10:00 the teams followed up on information received and found the suspect at a house in Ibex Street. As soon as he saw the police, he started running however he was apprehended at a house a few doors away.

He is detained on a charge of murder and will appear in the Port Elizabeth magistrates’ court on Monday, 7 December 2020.
