SAPS Walmer detectives are searching for 6 brazen suspects who robbed a cellphone store in a Walmer shopping mall on the night of 2 March 2023.
It is alleged that at about 17:20, the suspects (2 armed with firearms) stormed in and instructed customers and staff to lie on the floor. The suspects pilfered all the demo iPhones, Macbooks, watches etc that were on display.
While packing the stolen items, a shot went off in the store. No one was injured.
A case of business robbery is under investigation. The value of the stolen items is not yet known as an inventory still needs to be done to ascertain the exact number that was stolen.
Police are appealing to communities to assist them in tracing the suspects while at the same time are warning the communities to be wary of buying suspected stolen property.
If a person is found in possession of suspected stolen property, they will be arrested and charged.
