The Venterstad Station Commander, Captain Thomas and her station team successfully arrested four suspects that robbed a security guard.

The security guard at the Venterstad Magistrate Court was overpowered by four suspects on Saturday, 18 August 2018 at about 23:00, and he was robbed of his firearm. The suspects then went to a tavern at Nozizwe Lacality where they shot a victim in the shoulder.

He was taken to hospital by ambulance. Swift response by SAPS members, led to the arrest of two suspects following a shootout. Two of the suspects managed to escape.

Today the SAPS team, after working tirelessly, arrested the outstanding suspects and recovered the firearm. They will appear in court today, 20 August 2018 on charges of robbery and attempted murder.

The Cluster Commander, Brigadier Trevor Mey commended Captain Thomas and her team on the quick response and the successful arrests and recovery of the firearm. “Our community must know that the SAPS will not tolerate these serious and violent crimes that threaten the safety and security of our community,” he said.
