Eastern Cape Provincial Commissioner Lt Gen Liziwe Ntshinga said today following the attack on two women in Lower Didiman in the early hours of this morning, 8 October 2018. “This act of cruelty by these ruthless sadistic criminals on defenceless women is strongly condemned. The community are urged to assist the SAPS in tracking down the suspects who shot two women one of whom was fatally wounded” said Lt Gen Liziwe Ntshinga.

“Crimes against women and children remain a national priority, and as the SAPS we will leave no stone unturned until these perpetrators are taken into custody and we establish the motive for these attacks,” she added.

They approached the first homestead where they shot a 55 year old woman and thereafter proceeded to the second house and shot the 70 year old woman who died at the scene. The suspects then fled the scene. The first victim was taken to hospital where she is in a critical condition.

The motive for these heinous attacks are unknown and will be investigated.
