OR TAMBO – Two male suspects were nabbed in the OR Tambo District over the weekend. The second suspect was also charged for murder and two counts of attempted murder.

In the first incident, a 30-year- old male suspect at Mqobiso locality, Mjika A/A in Tsolo fatally shot a 39-year-old male, and injured two other victims on Friday, 10 October 2025 at about 22:45. The second injured victim is the suspect’s girlfriend. It is believed that the shooting incident was sparked by a domestic violence. A 30-year-old suspect handed himself over to the police on Saturday morning, 11 October 2025. Police also seized a 9mm pistol with one round of ammunition. The suspect was charged for murder, attempted murder (two counts) and possession of unlicenced firearm and ammunition. He was processed for court today, 13 October 2025, in Tsolo.

In an unrelated incident, the OR Tambo District Task Team during an intelligence driven operation arrested a 26-year-old male suspect near Ngqwarha locality in Mqanduli for possession of an unlicensed 9mm pistol (intact serial number) and ammunition on Monday morning, 13 October 2025 at about 00:15.  The suspect was charged for possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition, and processed for Mqanduli Magistrate’s Courts today, 13 October 2025.

Acting Tambo District Commissioner, Brigadier Vukile Ntuli commended police for their swift, timeous actions in responding to committed crimes.
