Two murder cases solved within 24hrs, Kamesh

Following the senseless murder of two victims on the night of Saturday, 24 March 2018, a team of dedicated detectives from SAPS Kamesh worked around the clock combing for clues and following up on leads to ensure that offenders are brought to book.

A 21 year old male victim was allegedly stabbed in the back by a 26 year old male at about 18:30 last night, Saturday, 24 March 2018 at 30724 Joe Slovo, Kamesh. The reason for the murder is unknown. The victim, Lionel Lesley succumbed to his injuries. The suspect fled on foot and was apprehended today, Sunday, 25 March 2018 at about 09:45 today, 25 March 2018 in Blikkiesdorp, Kamesh.

The second incident occurred at about 23:30 last night, 24 March 2018 in 967 Moeggesukkel, Kamesh. It is alleged that the victim, a 33 year old male was visiting friends and was about to leave when he was stabbed in the chest by a 32 year old female. The motive for the murder is unclear. The victim, Ashton Bakers passed on at the scene. The suspect was apprehended in the early hours of this morning, 25 March 2018, in Tinktinkie Avenue, Rosedale.

The team worked tirelessly following up information which led to the arrest of the suspects. This is in line with the organisational objectives of the SAPS and the expectations of the communities we serve. Both suspects are due to appear in the Uitenhage Magistrate’s court tomorrow, Monday, 26 March 2018 on a charge of murder.

The acting Cluster Commander of Uitenhage, Brig Ronald Koll has hailed the team for the effective manner in which they executed their duties.
