Two men were convicted of rape sentenced to fifteen years imprisonment

Two men were convicted and sentenced to fifteen years imprisonment by the Mdantsane Magistrates Court yesterday, 24 October 2016, for the rape of a 28-year-old woman in October 2015.

Sithembiso “Nkwenkwe” Ngcobo (29) and Lakhile “Mhlobo” Wexu (30) raped the victim during a traditional ceremony in Newlands location near East London, October 2015. The victim knew both accused, as they grew up together in the same location. A case of rape was opened at Vulindlela police station.

Sergeant Bhanakazi Jonas took over the investigation and immediately arrested the suspects.

The victim’s family welcomed the sentence and commended the investigating officer for a job well done.
