Two suspects 23 and 34 years of age were arrested by Mthatha Flying Squad members following a house robbery that occurred at Hillcrest on the night of 5 April 2019. It is alleged that two suspects entered a house and robbed the victim at gunpoint of several valuables including cell phones, a TV, clothing and a white VW Polo TSi.

Flying Squad members followed up on leads in Qumbu town where they found these suspects at their hideout on 6 April 2019, about 12h00.

Two 9mm pistols with ammunition (serial numbers filed off) were found hidden in the robbed vehicle while other stolen items were also recovered. Both suspects will appear before Mthatha Magistrate’s court on Monday 8 April 2019, and the firearms will be subjected to ballistic tests to ascertain whether it were used in the commission of other crimes.

“Let’s make Mthatha a no go area for criminals. Let’s stamp our authority and let them see they don’t have space here. This is a great job done,” said the Acting Cluster Commander Brigadier Mandlakhe Twala.
