Two suspects aged 34 and 45 have been arrested for the alleged murder of the Chief Whip of the Sakhisizwe Local Municipality. The two were arrested on Saturday 1 December 2018, at their respective homes in Tsolo and Elliot.

Thanduxolo Peter Nobongoza (42) was shot dead on Saturday late afternoon whilst strolling.

The Hawks’ Queenstown Serious Organised Crime Investigation Unit assisted by the Provincial Crime Intelligence, the Provincial detectives, SAPS organised Crime Unit, Tactical Response Team and Public Order Policing worked around the clock, following up on leads and led to the arrest of the two suspects.

They are expected to appear in the Cala Magistrates’ Court on Monday, 3 December 2018 on a charge of murder. Further charges cannot be ruled out.
