Mount Road Cluster Trio Detective Task Team arrested two suspects for the alleged murder of a shopkeeper on 8 February 2020, in Rensburg Street in Arcadia.

It is alleged that at about 22:00, on the mentioned date, Husain Morad (39) was alone in the shop when several shots were fired through the glass door, hitting him several times. The shop was locked but the serving hatch was open.

It is further alleged that prior to the fatal shooting, at about 18:30 a known person entered the shop, bought a cigarette and smoked it in the shop. Thereafter, he pointed a firearm at the female (28) at the counter and demanded money. She refused to give him money and an argument erupted between the two of them. When he left, he threw stones at the shop, damaging the glass door.

The female then went to the police station to open a case when the murder took place.

During the investigation, the team followed up on several leads and on Tuesday, 3 March 2020 information was received of the possible whereabouts of the suspects. At about 04:30 on 4 March 2020, two suspects were arrested at their respective houses in Grootboom Street. Both suspects, aged 20 are detained on charges of murder.
