On Friday, 22 September 2017 around 20:00. Police nabbed two suspects and recovered two unlicensed firearms with six rounds of ammunition during a robbery of a liquor outlet in KwaNobuhle.

It is alleged that a manager of a liquor outlet in Matanzima Road, KwaNobuhle was preparing to close when two men with firearms stormed inside and demanded cash. Members of the Uitenhage Operational Command Center (OCC) that were in the vicinity were alerted by a witness and immediately responded.

Police found and nabbed the two men inside the premises and also recovered two firearms with ammunition.

The two firearms, both their serial numbers were filed off. The firearms are to be sent to the laboratory for ballistic investigation. The two men aged 24 and 27, will appear in the KwaNobuhle Magistrate’s Court on charges of attempted business robbery and possession of unlicensed firearms and ammunition.

KwaNobuhle Station Commander, Colonel Dial Kettledas commended members for their swift response that led to the arrests and recovery of two unlicensed firearms. He further praised a community member who quickly alerted the police about the incident, “The residents have a pivotal role in combating crime, especially the one of sharing information with the police about any crime incident in their areas”.
