Two armed home invasions within three hours, Uitenhage

On Tuesday, 10 July 2018 around 1am, it is alleged that three men armed with firearms forced open a kitchen door of a house in Mimosa Drive, Uitenhage.

The occupants were awaken by the sound of an opening door after which they were held at gunpoint by one of the suspects. The other two men ransacked the house and stole a television set, Xbox, five cellphones and an external hard drive. The suspects then locked the victims inside a bedroom before fleeing the scene.

In a separate incident, Tuesday, 10 July 2018 at about 4am, it is alleged that five men armed with firearms forced open a door of a house in Katjiepiering Street in Uitenhage. A homeowner was held at gunpoint and forced to hand over cash from her wallet. The suspects also stole a television set, a laptop and a cellphone before fleeing the scene.

No people were injured in both incidents.

Police opened house robbery cases for investigation and are also urging anyone with information that could assist with their investigation in any of the two incidents to contact the nearest police station or to share information via Crime Stop 08600 10111.
