Eastern Cape — Authorities have confirmed a Tsomo murder arrest after a 43-year-old man allegedly fatally stabbed his girlfriend’s male relative during a weekend altercation. The suspect, a resident of the Upper Nqolose locality, is now facing a formal murder charge.
The suspect was apprehended by law enforcement on Sunday, 21 June 2026, and is scheduled to make his first appearance at the Tsomo Magistrates Court on Tuesday, 23 June 2026.
The deadly encounter unfolded late on Saturday, 20 June 2026. According to police reports, the suspect and his girlfriend were consuming alcohol at their residence at approximately 23:00 when the victim—identified as the girlfriend’s 30-year-old male relative—arrived at the property. A verbal dispute between the two men quickly escalated into physical violence, culminating in the suspect fatally stabbing the victim.
Following the attack, the suspect allegedly shoved the severely injured victim out of the home and locked the door, leaving him stranded outside. It was only the following morning that the suspect and his girlfriend discovered the victim had succumbed to his injuries. In an apparent attempt to conceal the crime, the couple dragged the deceased’s body away from the immediate scene.
The cover-up was short-lived when passers-by discovered the body and immediately alerted the authorities. Preliminary police investigations quickly led to the suspect’s apprehension.
Meanwhile, the suspect’s girlfriend was detained by police and taken in for questioning as investigations into the circumstances surrounding this gender-based violence incident continue.
