Mount Road Detective Trio Task Team members arrested an 18-year-old teenager hours after a cafe in Aloes Valley in Missionvale was robbed.

It is alleged that on Tuesday, 21 April 2020 at about 14:00, the complainant was at the shop with his employees when four males entered on a pretense of purchasing. Two of the males produced firearms and pointed it at the victims. They instructed one of the victim’s to open the burglar gate to gain entry to the other side of the counter.

Cash, boxes of cigarettes and a cellphone were taken. Two suspects were known to the complainant. The estimated value including the cash taken was approximately R1000,00.

The Detective Trio Task team immediately followed up on information of the known suspects and at about 16:45, the teenager was arrested at his house not far from the shop. Further arrests are imminent.

He is detained on a charge of armed robbery and is expected to appear in the New Brighton Magistrates’ court on Thursday, 23 April 2020.
