Matatiele Vispol members were awarded with commendation certificates for their swift response to a Business Robbery incident reported at Lukholweni policing area on Sunday the 25 March 2018.
The members arrested three suspects, aged 22 to 31 within thirty minutes after the incident when they apprehended them while escaping from the scene towards Matatiele town and recovered all the stolen money including tobacco as well as an illegal firearm, a Shotgun found in possession of the suspects.
One of the suspects is a 30 year old Matatiele Local Municipality employee working as traffic officer whose vehicle, a white Toyota Corolla, used in the commission of the robbery.
The vehicle was also confiscated and impounded at Matatiele Police Station. A case of Business Robbery, Unlawful possession of a firearm and ammunition as well as possession of suspected stolen property have been opened for investigation.
All three suspects appeared in the Matatiele and Maluti Magistrate’s Courts respectively on the aforementioned charges and they were remanded in custody until their next court appearance on 4 April 2018.
