Traditional ‘mqombothi’ liquor consumption outing leads to murder

Tsomo Police arrested a 43 year old man for alleged murder of a 25 year old man. It is alleged that both the suspect and the deceased had attended a traditional mqombothi liquor consumption on Friday 10 January 2020, at about 14h00 at Kwezama Locality, Qombolo Village, Tsomo.

The elderly men were drinking inside the hut while the young men were outside. A misunderstanding between the two men arose and the suspect drew his knife. It is alleged that he stabbed the 25 year old man on his upper body.

The 25 year old man was rushed to Cofimvaba Hospital where he later passed away.

The suspect then fled. He was traced and arrested on Saturday 11 January 2020. He has been charged with murder. The suspect will appear before the Tsomo Magistrate’s Court on Monday, 13 January 2020, on a murder charge.

The identity of the deceased will be released once all his relatives are officially informed of his murder.
