Three suspects arrested with three unlicensed firearms

In an effort by Police to minimize the illegal firearms proliferation in Mthatha, Police have arrested three suspects with three unlicensed firearms and ammunition.

The arrests followed an information of a Toyota Avanza coming from Cape Town with three armed occupants with the intentions of committing a murder at Bityi. The intelligence driven operation by Crime intelligence and NIU (National Inteverntion Unit) was conducted at Nyibeni Locality Bityi Area on 13 June 2017 at about 19h00, and all three suspects aged between 27 and 38 were arrested and were found in possession of unlicensed firearms and fifty rounds of ammunition.

They will be profiled and appear before Bityi periodical Court soon for possession of unlicensed firearms and ammunition and conspiracy to commit crime.
