The Eastern Cape Provincial Commissioner has learnt with shock and sadness about the senseless killing of four people at Zangqokweni locality, Ndonga Administrative Area, Lady Frere.
According to information police were summoned to the home of a 44-year-old woman at about 04:00 on the morning on 1 February 2021. Upon arrival, it was established that the woman had stab wounds. While police were still at the scene they were informed of another woman (72) who was also found dead in her house. Later at about 07:00, two more bodies of a 75-year-old woman and 88-year-old man were also found dead in their house.
All the houses are in close proximity and all the victims had stab wounds.
Four cases of murder have been opened for investigation and the motive for the murders has not yet been established.
An immediate manhunt for the suspects has been ordered by the Provincial Commissioner. “The 72-hour Activation Plan to track, trace and arrest the suspect/s has been established under the leadership of Detective Captain Lindile Sigcu. The plan entails the mobilisation of critical resources to ensure that all information, intelligence and/or evidence to successfully trace the suspect/s is utilised efficiently,” said Lieutenant General Liziwe Ntshinga.
“We will not rest until the suspect/s are found and brought to book for this shocking and callous murder,” added Lt Gen Ntshinga.
