Mariaan Le Roux (44) was released on bail by the Gqeberha Specialised Commercial Crime Court on 21 July 2022. This is subsequent to her arrest by the Gqeberha based Hawks’ Serious Commercial Crime Investigation team for charges of theft.

It is alleged that Le Roux in her capacity as an administrator of her mother, Maria Christina Senekal’s estate misappropriated the estate funds for her personal enrichment.

This happened between June 2017 and November 2019 when Senekal passed on. Senekal needed an administrator as she is alleged to have suffered from dementia.

After the passing of Senekal, Le Roux had to meet with her siblings to decide on the suitable executor. In that instance, Le Roux as the previous administrator had to give account on how she administrated Senekal’s estate.

Discrepancies were identified and the matter was reported to the Hawks.

The investigation revealed that Le Roux misappropriated more than R698 000-00 which led to her arrest on 21 July 2022. The matter was remanded to 1 September 2022 for copies of the docket.
