On 21 August 2018, Bongani Ngxasana (25) was sentenced to 10 years imprisonment for rape and 18 months for kidnapping.
Sentences will run concurrently. On 30 April 2017 at about 03:30, the 21 year old victim the walking home from a tavern in Greenfields when she met three known friends. One of them offered to walk her home however while on the way, he pulled out a knife and threatened her.
She was taken to a house and raped. He was arrested the same day by SAPS Bethelsdorp members. He will effectively serve 10 years in prison.
