Police members were busy with their duties when they attended a housebreaking at Market Street, Adelaide on 30 January 2021. On arrival they recovered a generator and on thorough investigation around the area they arrested a 30-year-old male for housebreaking and theft.

They then proceeded with their patrols when they attended a complaint where a security guard was attending to a person who was begging for food at Pohl Street, Adelaide. While the security guard was attending to this person, he drew a knife and wanted to stab the security guard. While the guard was reversing his service firearm fell on the ground and the suspect picked it up and tried to shoot himself.

The police negotiated with the person and as a result the suspect withdraw from his action and handed over the firearm to the police. The 24-year-old male was arrested and charged for possession of unlicensed firearm and ammunition, pointing of a firearm.

These suspects will be appearing at Adelaide Magistrates’ Court on Monday, 1 February 2021.

The Acting District Commissioner Brigadier Ngangema Xakavu applauded the members for good work as they save the life of the security guard and that the firearm was recovered and suspect was arrested.
