Members attached at Elliotdale SAPS were on duty enhancing visibility on the night of 27 July 2021, in their policing precinct at Elliotdale and arrested two males both aged 50.

While Police were intensifying visibility they have received information about males in two different locations who are in possession of shotguns.

They swiftly responded and proceeded to the mentioned homestead at Qatywa Location, Elliotdale. On arrival they asked a permission to search the homestead and it was granted. Upon searching they found an unlicensed shotgun.

They then proceeded to Nkanya Location and upon searching they found an unlicensed shotgun. Both males were arrested for possession of unlicensed firearms and ammunition after they failed to produce a license.

They are due to appear at Elliotdale Magistrate’s Court on Friday, 30 July 2021.

The Acting Amathole District Commissioner, Brigadier Ngangema Xakavu commended the working relationship between Police and the community that led to the confiscation of firearms and that ultimately prevents serious and violent crimes.
