The Operational Command Centre’s (OCC) efforts in ensuring that policing is conducted with the aim of preventing and combating crime in areas that are experiencing high crime levels prove to be successful.

In a 24 hour period on 28 and 29 June 2017, five suspects were arrested for gang related shootings allegedly committed in the Bethelsdorp and Gelvandale areas.

The arrests were effected by the various police units including Public Order Policing (POP), Crime Combating Unit, Visible Gang Intervention Team and the Provincial Gang Investigation Unit performing duties from the Mount Road Cluster Operational Command Centre.

The suspects aged between 16 and 36 years will appear in court soon. In two cases, two suspects were arrested immediately after the alleged commission of a crime which took place on 28 June 2017 in the Bethelsdorp area. All five suspects were arrested for attempted murder cases
