On 20 January 2019 at 09:30 the swift reaction of the Maclear SAPS resulted in the arrest of three suspects. This follows after three suspects entered the PEP Cell shop and held up two employees. They then started to collect various cell phones in the shop.

The SAPS members received the information of the robbery in progress and immediately responded. The swift reaction resulted in the speedy arrest of three suspects aged 26, 22 and 24 who are all alleged to be from Mthatha.

A toy firearm as well as a vehicle, a VW Vivo, red in colour that was used during the commission of the crime were confiscated and the cell phones recovered.

Upon further investigation it was also determined that the vehicle was hijacked at Ngangelizwe also during January.
