Suspected stock thief nabbed, 6 cattle recovered, KatKop

Continuous efforts to eradicate stock theft in the KatKop area yielded positive results.

On Sunday, 20 March 2022, at about 15:00, SAPS members of Katkop led by Warrant Officer Noqazu were busy with crime prevention patrols when they received information about a vehicle travelling towards the Maclear direction with 6 cattle.

The members spotted the vehicle on the road and intercepted the vehicle.

The members then requested the stock removal certificate according to the Stock Theft Act from the driver but the driver failed to produce the certificate.

The 29-year-old suspect was arrested for being in possession of suspected stolen livestock.

He will appear today in the Mount Fletcher Magistrate’s Court.

The acting District Commissioner, Brig Rudolph Adolph welcomed the arrest as stock theft is a priority crime in the area and different endeavours is put in place to assist with the prevention.
