A coordinated police operation has led to the arrest of two men in Qumbu for the possession of suspected stolen cattle and goats.

The OR Tambo Stock Theft Prevention Task Team, supported by Qumbu Vispol members, apprehended the suspects, aged 20 and 23 from the Blackhill locality, on Wednesday, 01 October 2025 at approximately 17:00.

The arrests followed a tip-off about three suspected stolen cattle and goats being kept at a homestead in Blackhill. Upon investigation, police discovered that the three cattle were part of a larger herd of five stolen from a grazing camp in Sithaleni locality.

The suspects subsequently led police to Cokomfeni locality, where they admitted to stealing five goats. The lawful owner of the goats positively identified two of the recovered animals as his, linking them to a stock theft case registered under a Qumbu CAS number from September 2025.

An investigation is ongoing to recover the remaining two cows and three goats.

The two arrested suspects are scheduled to appear before the Qumbu Magistrate’s Court on Thursday, 02 October 2025, to face charges of possession of suspected stolen stock.
