The 29 year old Thabo Ntshebe was sentenced to life imprisonment by Zwelitsha Regional Court on Tuesday 25 July 2017.

The conviction follows after the accused sexually assaulted a 14 year old girl from Highway, Ndevana outside King Williams Town. The incident occurred in July 2015 and the suspect was arrested and charged for Rape in October 2015. He first appeared at Zwelitsha Magistrate Court on 19 October 2015 and he was denied bail and remanded in custody. He appeared several times at Zwelitsha Magistrate Court and in July 2015 the case was transferred to Zwelitsha Regional Court. On 20 July 2017 he was found guilty and on 25 July 2017 he was sentenced and convicted to life imprisonment.

The FCS Unit Commander, Lieutenant Colonel Zithulele Mahlambeni welcomed the sentence handed down to the suspect. He thanked the Investigating Officer for thorough investigation and sterling efforts in ensuring that the perpetrator is behind bars for life. This sends a strong message to all the perpetrators of crime and those who sexually assault people will be arrested and brought before Court.
