A 38 year old male suspect was arrested during the early morning hours on 18 November 2018, for the illegal possession of unlicensed firearm in Motherwell.
This followed after Motherwell Operational Command Centre members received information of suspects with firearms at a taxi rank in Ngonyama Street, NU8 Motherwell.
On police arrival at the taxi rank at 23:45, the suspect started running away and threw the firearm over a fence. The members managed to arrest him and recovered the 9mm pistol with 11 rounds of ammunition.
He will be appearing before the Motherwell Magistrates Court on 19 November to face charges of the illegal possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition.
