On 20 October 2018 at about 15:35 today it is alleged that a business robbery took place at Vergenoeg Post Office.
The manager was busy with payments of workers when suddenly three unknown males came inside the post office with their faces covered. They pointed the cashier with firearms and demanded money and fled with an undisclosed amount of money.
The police was summoned to the scene and managed to arrest a 36-year-old male suspect. A 9mm Norinco pistol with its serial number erased and seven live rounds was recovered and a case of possession of unlicensed firearm has been opened.
Two other suspects ran away with the undisclosed amount of money. The suspect will appear in the East London Magistrate Court on 2018-10-22.
