Despite the heavy rains and inclement weather, Sergeant Elliot Ntungwana could not be deterred in any way from fulfilling his mandate to crime fighting. In December 2018, a burglary case was reported at Rhodes SAPS Community Service Centre about stolen firearms.

On Sunday 3 February 2019, during an intelligence driven operation, information was gathered that the suspect was on his way to Lesotho. Sergeant Ntungwana immediately followed up on the information received and proceeded to the mountain area where he performed waylay duties. He waited inside an old house along the border of Lesotho and RSA until the suspect appeared.

The 25 year old male was arrested with the following in his possession, two 2 rifles, Ammunition, clothes, torches and other equipment. He faces a charge of unlawful possession of firearms and ammunition and is set to appear in Barkly East District Court today.

Elliot Cluster Commander Col Matshediso Gezani commended the member’s swift action and the farming community for their assistance.
