Three men, aged 18 to 21 years, were arrested for possession of unlicensed firearm at Ngangelizwe location in Mthatha today, 18 April 2018 about 11h00.

The suspects were arrested after Ngangelizwe detectives were following an information after a housebreaking and theft occurred and a firearm and other valuables were stolen at Waterfall Park.

A 9mm Z88 Pistol with no rounds was recovered hidden in a grave at a graveyard in Waterfall Park.

The suspects will appear before Mthatha Magistrate Court tomorrow, 19 April 2018 facing charges of possession of unlicensed firearm and a case of negligence will be opened against the complainant.

The firearm will be sent for ballistic testing to ascertain if it cannot be linked to other crimes and the suspects will also be linked with other armed robberies.

Mthatha acting Cluster Commander Brigadier Nomawethu Makonza commended members for their successful investigation.
