The efficient utilisation of resources in support of the investigation of crime yielded good results when Stock Theft Unit members arrested four suspects in possession of a carcass at Toise Village at Stutterheim.

Police followed up the information they received and managed to recover a carcass at about 03h00. Four suspects were immediately arrested and charged for Stock Theft.

Members then proceeded to Peddie where they recovered five stolen cattle at Nqwenerhana Location outside Peddie. These cattle were stolen at Cwecweni Location under the Punzana Police Station precinct at the beginning of this month. They were handed over to the lawful owner by Police. No suspect has been arrested following the recovery however police investigations are underway.

These suspects will appear at Stutterheim Magistrate’s Court.

The Cluster Commander of King Williams Town, Brigadier Luntu Ngubelanga commended the members for their efforts in curbing stock theft in the cluster and encouraged the members to remain focused when patrolling the policing precinct to stop the theft of livestock in its tracks. Our members must not rest until these stock theft cases are solved and suspects involved arrested, we will intensify our operations in rural areas and around farms in order to curb stock theft, he added.
