On 22 August 2018, Barkly East Visible Police member Constable Chachana was on duty when he noticed a suspicious motor vehicle and decided to stop it. Upon checking the vehicle, noticed that it was carrying live sheep. He enquired about the ownership of the stock and he found that the documentation was false and immediately called for backup.

D/WO Khanyile, attached to the Stock Theft Unit was summoned to the scene. Further investigation revealed that the sheep was stolen in Lesotho. Two suspects aged between 34 and 37 years were arrested for stock theft and the vehicle was also confiscated.

Both suspects will appear at Barkly East District Court soon.

Elliot Cluster Commander, Colonel Matshediso Gezani commended the vigilance of members in particular Constable Chachana.
