Stock theft is not only taken as an ordinary crime by SAPS as the rise has a potential to threaten national economy and food security. Police efforts to thwart stock theft were rewarded after twenty four goats, twenty two cattle and four sheep suspected to have been stolen were recovered.

The twenty four goats were recovered at Maladini locality and impounded at Mount Fletcher by members of Crime Intelligence and Maluti Stock Theft Unit. It is alleged that the goats are suspected to have been stolen at Ketekete area.

Twenty of the twenty cattle were recovered at esiXhotyeni village in Gqogqora, near Tsomo by members of the community, two were recovered at Nontyakashe locality in Qumbu and impounded at Tsolo local municipality.

The four sheep were recovered hidden in the dongas at Sulenkama locality, Qumbu.

All the animals have been kept at stock pounds as police wait for their bona fide owners to come and positively identify them.
