State withdraws charges against Eastern Cape Farmer
Woman arrested for conspiracy to commit murder

On Friday October 14, the state withdrew the murder charges against Pieter van der Vyver, the Eastern Cape farmer shot and killed one of his workers.

It was on February 29, this year when van der Vyver and one of his workers Masixole Charles entered into a confrontation. Charles stabbed farmer Vyver several times. Vyver shot and killed Masixole during the altercation.

An emotional van der Vyver now a free man after a traumatic seven months thanked the community and family for the support offered during this trying time. Van der Vyver is happy that the matter is now finished.

The defense attorney Riaan Pienaar believed that the state did not have a strong case from the beginning.
