Qacha’s Nek police members were conducting routine patrols as part of ‘Safety Fridays’ at Khoapha junction, but the recovery of a 1.9m long snake and a Nile crocodile was the least that they expected.

This happened while members were busy with during a vehicle stop and search which began early today, 23 November 2018, at 05:00 to ensure safety of the public and their property on the roads. A 39 year old male driver of the sedan vehicle and two male passengers aged between 27 and 39 were arrested in connection with illegal possession of reptiles.

The suspects are believed to have been travelling from Limpopo.

The suspects were charged with unlawful possession of endangered species and are expected to appear in Maluti Magistrate Court on Monday,26 November 2018.
