The skeletal remains of a child found on Sunday, 29 September 2019, at approximately 09:00 in Malabar Ext 6 has been confirmed through DNA to be that of Recolin Keagan Witbooi who went missing on 6 July 2019 from Gelvandale.

It is alleged that Recolin Keagan Witbooi was last seen at 13:30 on the mentioned date, playing with friends in Uranus Street. He did not go back home. At the time of his disappearance he was wearing a black hoodie top, black tracksuit pants and a pair of white Nike takkies.

Due to the state of decomposition, the identification of the child could not be determined and DNA analysis was done to confirm the identity. Post mortem result indicate ‘unascertained due to advance state of decomposition.’

An inquest is under investigation. At this stage, the case will remain an inquest unless further information is forthcoming.
