Shots fired during theft of livestock, 3 teens arrested with firearms, Qumbu

Three firearms were seized during an intelligence driven operation that was conducted by Qumbu police at Kalankomo locality on 6 May 2020, at about 05:00.

The operation was conducted following a shooting and stealing of a chicken at Qotira on Sunday, 3 May 2020 at about 01:45, where three men allegedly fired several shots at one homestead and fled with one chicken. No one was injured.

Three suspects, 17-year-old boys, were arrested for possession of two shotguns with no ammunition whilst a 23-year-old man was arrested after he was found in possession of firearm with no ammunition.

They will appear before Qumbu Magistrate Court on Friday, 8 May 2020 facing charges of attempted murder and possession of unlicensed firearms. The firearms will be sent for ballistic testing. “Let’s not give criminals space to breath, let us suffocate them and make them feel us,” the District Commissioner, Major General David Kanuka said.
