Port Elizabeth Flying Squad members arrested a 16-year-old teenager minutes after a shooting incident occurred in Statice Street in Bethelsdorp on the night of 17 September 2020.

It is alleged that at about 20:30, the victim (age unknown) was walking in a passageway in Statice Street when he noticed two unknown males in front of him. They called him and as he neared them, one of them produced a firearm and shot at him. He was shot on his left upper leg.

At about 20:45, PE Flying Squad members were in the vicinity and spotted two males running from the scene in Bellflower Road. They chased after the alleged suspects on foot through an open field. Both males were apprehended. A .38 revolver was found in the possession of the teenager. He was detained on a charge of illegal possession of a firearm and ammunition.
