Police are investigating a case of armed robbery following the robbery of an on duty security guard at Amalinda Post office, East London on 17 October 2018. It is alleged that a male in his mid 20s entered the facility and joined the queue pretending to be a customer when he suddenly turned around and pointed the security guard with a pistol and demanded his rifle and the guard obliged, suspect fled on foot.
Members of the K9 unit immediately searched the surrounding areas and spotted the fleeing suspect who threw the pistol on the ground and disappeared in the bushes.
