Search launched for murder suspect pays off, Despatch

On Sunday, 20 January 2019, detectives from the South African Police Service in Despatch in conjunction with detectives from the Uitenhage Cluster Operational Command Centre have launched a manhunt for a suspect who allegedly fatally stabbed a 25 year old male in the early hours of 20 January 2019 in Albatros Street, Reservoir Hills, Despatch.

Community Sector patrollers alerted the police at 03:10, this morning, 20 January 2019, as they were busy with patrols in the area, they discovered the body of a male (with a stab wound) lying in the street.

Despatch SAPS detectives followed up on information at 07:30 and apprehended a 18 year old male suspect on a charge of murder. The motive for the murder is unclear at this stage. The name of the deceased will be released after he was formally identified.

The 18 year old suspect is due to appear in the Uitenhage Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday, 22 January 2019. Uitenhage Cluster Commander, Brig Ronald Koll praised the team for their concerted efforts and the speedily arrest.
