Butterworth Police arrested a 19-year-old schoolboy on Thursday, 30 May 2019 at Zangwa Village, Butterworth. It is alleged that the suspect stabbed another 19 year old schoolboy with a spoon on Thursday, 30 May 2019 at about 12:30 inside the high school premises at Zangwa Village, Butterworth.

It is alleged that the suspect stabbed the victim for school food as the learners were given their lunch. The 19-year-old learner was taken to Butterworth hospital and later transferred to one of the East London hospitals. The 19-year-old suspect has been charged with attempted murder.

He is due to appear before the Butterworth Magistrate’s Court on Monday, 3 June 2019 on a charge of attempted murder.

The violent behaviour of the suspect has been strongly condemned by the Butterworth Cluster Commander, Brigadier Ngangema Xakavu. Butterworth Cluster Commander, Brigadier Ngangema Xakavu wished the injured leaner a speedy recovery.
