Key role players in initiation season including SAPS, House of traditional leaders, local Chiefs, Buffalo City Municipality, Health, traditional surgeons and traditional nurses converged in this important launch at NU6 Mdantsane today.

This year’s initiation season theme is “Mabaye bephila, babuye bephila” campaign.

Warrant Officer Thobela Phelisile condemned the substance and alcohol abuse at the initiation huts. He further informed the traditional nurses that unannounced and random searches at the initiation huts will be conducted to prevent criminal activities during this period.

Adherence to health care standards by the traditional surgeons and traditional nurses was emphasised. Traditional surgeons and traditional nurses were urged to prioritise the health of the initiates before their needs.

Chief Lesley Makinana from the BCM office and Chief Ludwe Siwani from the house of the traditional leaders pledged their support to make sure that the lives of our children are not compromised during the initiation season.

Andile Siko representing the traditional surgeons and traditional nurses, also pledged their support with all round commitment to prevent fatalities during this initiation period.
