Operation Safer Festive Season were conducted in the OR Tambo District on 12 January 2020, with good successes.
A 33 year old man was arrested at about 18:00, following two business robberies that occurred in August 2019 and early this month at Gqukunqa locality in Sulenkama. The suspect was found in possession of a 7.65 pistol with no rounds.
Another 23 year old man was arrested after members followed a positive information that he is in possession of a 9mm pistol at Marhubeni locality, Libode at about 16:00.
Meanwhile, a 31 year old man was arrested after he was found in possession of dagga weighing 3.436kg and an amount of R1108-00 at Slovo Park in Mthatha at about 23:00.
Three people with ages ranging between 20 and 42 years were arrested for selling liquor without license a during compliance check on liquor outlets.
Lastly, during body searches, two suspects between 19 and 21 were arrested for possession of dagga, 22 knives, 1 axe, 1 hammer and 5 fake cigarettes were confiscated.
