Over the past weekend of 26 August 2018, Police were busy with Operation Fiela II in the Central Business area, Zwelitsha, Bisho, Dimbaza and Stutterheim area within King William’s Town Cluster policing precinct.

Police were claiming space from the criminals by partaking on foot patrol doing stop and search in the areas and they managed to arrest more than sixty suspects, aged between 19 and 51 years, for crimes ranging from drunkenness, possession of stolen property, Common Robbery, Possession of drugs, Housebreaking and Theft, Common Assault and Malicious damage to property.

Other property (fridge and dagga) were confiscated during patrols and dangerous weapons were also confiscated as part of crime prevention.

Twenty nine were arrested for drunken driving with the assistance of the Traffic department. This sends a strong message to the drivers that they must stop driving under the influence of alcohol and will be brought to justice if they break the law.

These suspects will appear in different Magistrate courts.

King William’s Town SAPS Cluster Commander Brigadier Luntu Ngubelanga said Police are committed in fighting crime and in full force in tracking down the perpetrators of crime. We will keep on doing operations and ensure that perpetrators are behind bars. He also thanked the community for sharing valuable information with SAPS and encouraged them to report any criminal activities to 08600 10111.
