Police in the OR Tambo District are committed in protecting the citizens of this country and their properties. During a multi-disciplinary operation that was conducted on 13 December 2019, 31 suspects were arrested.

The operation that was led by the Eastern Cape Provincial Commissioner Lt General Ntshinga was concentrating on drunken driving, selling liquor without license, tracing of suspects, possession of unlicensed firearms and possession and dealing in drugs/dagga.

Fifteen (15) suspects were arrested for drunken driving, seven were arrested for selling liquor without license and hundreds of liters of alcohol liquor was confiscated. Seven wanted suspects with ages between 20 and 53 were also arrested for cases ranging from contravention of protection order to rape.

A 26 year old man was arrested by Lusikisiki Pop members after a kidnapping case was reported at Ntafufu loc Lusikisiki. A homemade gun and 2 live rounds were seized. He will appear before Lusikisiki Magistrate Court on Tuesday the 17 December facing charges of kidnapping, pointing with a firearm, possession of an unlicensed firearm and unlawful possession of ammunition.

And a 21 year old man was arrested after he was found in possession of 26 × sachets of dagga weighing 0,170 kg and a sum of R250 in cash. He will be caused to appear before Mthatha Magistrate Court on Tuesday the 17 December facing charges of possession and dealing in dagga.

“I applaud all the foot soldiers for their commitment in creating a safer Festive Season for our communities,” said Lt General Liziwe Ntshinga when lauding the operators.
